Sips & Bites on the Bay
When the Golden Gate Bridge opened to vehicular traffic at noon on May 28, 1937, then-President Franklin Delano Roosevelt pushed a ceremonial button in Washington, D.C. to officially open the bridge. As part of its pre-launch activities, Foggy Bridge has chartered FDR's treasured presidential yacht, the USS Potomac, for a series of cruises entitled "Sips & Bites on the Bay," offered weekends through October.
"Sips & Bites on the Bay" is a two-hour, interactive wine tasting experience aboard the USS Potomac. Guests enjoy fine wine paired with seasonal California cuisine - all against a backdrop of spectacular scenery and the landmarks of San Francisco Bay.
"Sips & Bites on the Bay" sails for two hours, departing from the Ferry Building Pier E, where guests enjoy beautiful views of San Francisco's best loved landmarks including Coit Tower, Alcatraz, Ghirardelli Square and of course, the city's own Golden Gate Bridge. The cruise takes a short pause near the bridge to reveal the future location of Foggy Bridge Winery. Guests are treated to a selection of Foggy Bridge wines made by winemaker Daryl Groom and hors d'oeuvres to complement the wines are provided by Left Bank Brasserie.
