Taste
Whether the afternoon calls for a glass of Pinot on the patio, catching up with friends by the fire pit, a tasting flight of California's premier varieties, or a plate of pommes frites at the restaurant bar, Foggy Bridge is the consummate place to spend a San Francisco afternoon.
When Foggy Bridge Canteen opens in late 2008, wine novices and aficionados alike will be able to taste Foggy Bridge's very first wines, including a Pinot Noir from Santa Maria, Cabernet from Napa Valley, Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc and even a Bordeaux-style blend from Mendocino's Yorkville Highlands.
Led by a Foggy Bridge educator, daily tastings of five wines will be offered at the Canteen's concrete bar, outfitted with a floating translucent glass top lit from below. A Reserve-level tasting will also be available for Foggy Bridge friends who want access to more exclusive, limited production wines from top vineyard sources in California.
Those seeking a more intimate tasting experience will enjoy private, sit-down tastings in the Canteen Club room with seasonal food and wine pairings. Forget all the old rules about red wine with meat or white wine with fish. Learn why the flavors in wine and food are important to creating a delicious pairing. We'll show you that it's the seasonings and preparation methods that really make the difference.
In the larger winery building, opening in 2009, visitors will experience a tasting room with expansive views, a barrel room ideal for more intimate group tastings and educational tours that explore the winemaking process.
